And who cares about Imus anyhow? does Imus have the celebrity and visibility of Snoop Dog, Lil'Wayne or dead rappers Tupac or Biggie? And it seems that someone as media savvy as Imus isnt immune to the mixed signals given off by pop culture at large.... it is ok for this group of people to use certain language and not ok for others to use it. Further distorting the signals is the idea that the violent and misogynyst rap culture is not an underground phenomenon. This IS pop culture. It is suburban white kids who are making snoop and the others multiplatinum entertainers, not inner city youth.
I really dont see this issue as being racist or sexist at all. It is another 'issue' to throw on to the growing heap of victimhood. One more thing to hide behind when the real fear is facing your true identity, financial empowerment, educational empowerment and on and on on.
